Welcome to the one blog on the internet that gets updated once a year! Sarcasm aside, there are many things that have happened in this last year which have shifted the focus from me to my family. Thus, I have not focused much on my blog or my music for that matter. However, that is all about to change. Everything I said I was going to do in 2011 is now going to be carried forward to 2012. I am also going to be updating this blog much more often and possibly give it another redesign. Also, the mrsinghmusic.com domain will host my artist website with a link to this blog in the coming months. I have been telling my self that 2012 is going to be “MY” year for quite some time so lets see if i’m right. So I wish everyone a Very Happy 2012 and you can bet you will be hearing about Mister Singh Music on all media formats. As far as making a list of “to do” items as I do every year…..considering how that has worked out these past few years, I think i’m just going to plan in my head, hope for the best, and just go with the flow.
Keep posted for new music soon.
I’m sure everyone has heard the old saying “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”…Well sometimes it appears, life doesn’t so much as give you lemons, but fire them out of a rocket launcher right at you where they explode depositing their liquid payload right into your eyes. Teardrop lemonade anyone..? So, around this time I was supposed to have my album finished and released for everyone to enjoy (or criticize if that’s your thing). However, it seems life had different ideas and a single phone called changed the very trajectory of my grand plan….ah yes, the best laid plans of mice and men….Thus I find myself in my native homeland of New Delhi, India by the bedside of a loved one as they undergo chemotherapy for Stage IV Cancer. Now this loved one happens to be my mother therefore I have put everything on indefinite hold as what I was doing does not hold an iota of importance in my current circumstance.
I have come to fully appreciate the fragility of life and also the importance of keeping oneself healthy both physically and mentally. I am also a firm believer in the notion that things happen for a reason. We rarely realize this in the moment, but usually we make a connection later on upon deeper reflection. So has this experience made me a stronger person? Yes…so much so that I’m actually having trouble typing this post as my bulging biceps are making it hard for me to keep my arms close to my chest..Hmmm maybe teardrop lemonade might not taste that bad after all.
Bye Bye 2010 and may the doom and gloom of your tenure leave us post-haste. Yup, 2010 was a hard and difficult year for very many people. Record unemployment in the US, financial crisis in Europe, flooding in Haiti, Pakistan, numerous natural disasters, increasing frequency of terrorist bomb threats, the entire TSA debacle….I could go on forever but for me, 2010 was a transformational year. I changed not only as a person but as a musical entity. I became tired of doing remixes and just making beats…I knew I had much more to offer so thus began my long and arduous journey of recording my first full album. It has taken me almost 7 months but within that time, I have improved immensely. Now comes the shift from producer to producer+artist. So what to expect in the coming year:
1) Full Album to be released on iTunes (1st track is already on my facebook page as I type this). I will post it up here as well once finished.
2) Entire site redesign.
3) Photoshoot.
4) Videos (lots of em!)
5) Dance singles
6) Some Remixes….although my focus has now shifted more so to original material.
So 2011 is going to be a busy year as it is going to be spent increasing brand awareness….but the real big year is going to be 2012 (if the world has not ended that is..).
All the best for the New Year!

So, my day started with me thinking how I was going to promote my upcoming album. My day ended with me handing an MP3 player full of my remixes and tracks from my album to the legendary Mr. A.R. Rahman. It’s said that “Luck is when preparation meets opportunity”….and boy did I get lucky today. After his amazing concert here in Vancouver, I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the after dinner.
Needless to say, he is quite possibly the most humble person I have ever met in my life. After shaking his hand and nervously blabbing out something that sounded like “I love you mixed with you’re a god” I handed him my MP3 player.
WOW. The second person in the world to hear my album after me is going to be A.R. Rahman. God works in mysterious ways.

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to say that I have taken down my beatmaking videos. While the music was good, the overall look was quite amateur. Now that I have a proper studio setup (not the bedroom…haha), I will make new videos soon.
Yup, it has been a few months…but it takes time to create worthwhile content. Usually I like to go on total lock down mode when working on something big and I don’t really pay much attention to facebook/twitter/my own blog etc because they just become distractions. Run on sentence aside, almost everything is done. Just have to make sure the mixes sound good. Now I’m NOT a big fan of the current loudness war going on with music…all albums seem to be mastered SO DAMN LOUD that they lose all dynamic information. So, I will try not to squash the shizz out of my album but still have it bump so that DJ’s and so forth are satisfied playing it.
Hopefully some new content coming soon in the next week or so.
